This page will give you information about the fun learning that takes place throughout the year.
- In Phonics we are following the ‘Read Write Inc.’ scheme. We are currently learning our letter sounds and are beginning to read simple words. Fred talk is used during every day routines to support the children with blending, for example ‘can you put on your c-oa-t? Please can you s-i-t down?’
- In Maths we are counting to 20, forming numbers from 1 to 10, and adding different amounts together finding how many there are altogether. We are recognising and describing 2D and 3D shapes, the children are enjoying making arrangements with the different shapes.
- During afternoon lessons your child will compete a range of activities to support all areas of the early years curriculum, these will include; making their own musical instruments, baking, performing their favourite nursery rhymes, using a range of technological resources. We also love to be outside in all weathers so please ensure your child has a warm and waterproof coat in school everyday.
PE day is Thursday, your child will need; PE t-shirt, a pair of shorts and a pair of plimsolls (please ensure all items of clothing are clearly named).
Homework is sent home on a Friday night and needs to be returned the following Wednesday; this allows for you to support your child in their recognition and formation of letter sounds.
We send home a reading book, please encourage your child to use their phonic skills to decode and read the words, it is also important to talk about what can be seen in the pictures in order to promote story telling.
